I have 4 computers on the home network running Win7 Home Premium BUT one of them cannot connect to the network via the LAN connection. I get the error message Unidentified Network. There is an excellent tutorial on this subject but this doesn't work for me.
1) Right-click the network adapter icon at the bottom right corner of your desktop and clickOpen Network and Sharing Center. 3) Change the Location type to Private and the User permissions to User can change location. 2) Run Driver Easy and click theScan Now button. Driver Easy will then scan your computer and detect any problem drivers.
Set Unidentified Network as a Private or Public
Laptop has connected to this network before when I first set it up. Now when ever I attempt to connect it stays on unidentified network, public network. In advanced sharing settings it is set to public network as current profile. I have no access to the gpedit or local policy's, as I have tried... 3) Click the Update button next to the network card device to automatically download and install the correct version of this driver .
Here's my issue - have I a security problem and/or bad network setup? Be alert for scammers posting fake support phone numbers and/or email addresses on the community. Driver Easy will automatically recognize your system and find the correct drivers for it. On the General tab select the drop down arrow and set the Service to Disabled. If you later find you need the Service running for a program (I didn't) you can set the Automatic option instead, as that is also supposed to work.

I have also - as suggested in one post - tried changing the Network Address to a random number - this doesn't work either. You can try to set your current unidentified network to private or public location. If you don’t have the time, patience or computer skills to update the network card driver manually, you can do it automatically with Driver Easy. Open windows Control Panel and open Network and Sharing Centre. Click Change adapter settings and in the following window, right click your wireless connection and select Properties.
It took a while to find, but my issue was down to Apple's Bonjour Service, installed by Apple programs such as iTunes or Quicktime. If all the other devices connecting the router are facing with similar problems, you may need to contact the router manufacturer to see if there are updated firmware for the device. windows 7 home premium, unidentified network - no internet connection
I've recently moved into student accommodation which requires us to register for the Internet , and when running on Windows 7 my laptop (HP G62-107SA) cannot find the internet... I've read countless threads , but have found nothing that really describes my problem. I live on a boat and the only available Internet connection is by Wifi.
